User License Agreement
Last updated: July 2026 · Applies to all digital products sold on CodeUnit
This End User License Agreement ("EULA") is a legal agreement between you ("the Buyer") and the operator of CodeUnit ("the Licensor"). By completing a purchase, you agree to the terms of this licence. If you do not agree, do not download the product.
1. What you are buying
When you purchase a digital product from CodeUnit, you are purchasing a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the product as described in this agreement. You are not purchasing ownership of the code, design, or intellectual property. All copyright and intellectual property rights remain with the Licensor.
This is the same model used by CodeCanyon, Gumroad, and most digital product marketplaces worldwide.
2. Personal licence — what is permitted and what is not
Each purchase grants you one Personal Licence unless the product listing explicitly states otherwise.
You can
- Use the product for one personal website or one client project
- Modify the code and design to fit your needs
- Use it to build a product or service for a single paying client
- Keep your modifications private
- Deploy it on your hosting or your client's hosting
- Use it on a staging and a production environment for the same project
You cannot
- Resell, redistribute, or re-license the original product files
- Share download links or files with anyone else
- Upload it to any marketplace, file-sharing site, or repository
- Use it in more than one client project per licence
- Create a competing product based primarily on the purchased code
- Remove copyright notices or attribution comments from source files
- Claim you created the original product
3. Extended commercial licence
If you need to use a product across multiple client projects, distribute it as part of a SaaS platform, or use it in a product you sell to multiple end users, you require an Extended Commercial Licence.
Contact admin@codeunit.dev to discuss pricing for an extended licence before purchasing. Do not purchase a Personal Licence and use it for multiple projects — this constitutes a licence violation.
4. Open source components
Some products include third-party open-source libraries (for example, Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js, Chart.js). These components are used under their respective open-source licences (MIT, Apache 2.0, etc.) and those licences are unaffected by this EULA. Licence files for third-party components are included in the download where applicable.
5. No warranty on fitness for purpose
Products are provided "as is". The Licensor makes no warranty that any product will function in every hosting environment or meet every use case. Compatibility requirements (PHP version, database version, required extensions) are listed on each product page. You are responsible for verifying compatibility before purchase.
The Licensor will provide reasonable support for genuine bugs — issues that cause the product to malfunction in a standard environment as described. Support does not cover customisation requests, training, or compatibility with unusual hosting configurations.
6. Updates
Purchases include any updates released within 12 months of the purchase date. After 12 months, updates are available at a discounted renewal price. There is no obligation to update, and older versions may be used indefinitely under the terms of this licence.
Updates are not guaranteed — products are sold at a fixed price for the version available at time of purchase.
7. Termination
This licence is effective from the date of purchase and remains in force indefinitely unless terminated. The Licensor may terminate this licence immediately and without notice if you breach any term of this agreement. Upon termination you must immediately cease using the product and delete all copies. A refund will not be issued upon termination for breach.
8. Attribution
Attribution is not required for most uses — you do not need to credit CodeUnit in your deployed project. However, we do ask that you do not actively misrepresent the origin of the product or claim it as your own original work when selling services to clients.
If you find the product valuable, a link to CodeUnit or a testimonial is always appreciated but never mandatory.
9. Governing law
This licence is governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any dispute shall be resolved in accordance with Kenyan law.
